Epic: An Anthology #3 “Tough Enough”

1992 (Part of a 4-issue series. Alien Legion story is 10 pgs.)

Nomad is called to Alvar 9 where off-world invaders have annexed part of the planet. The locals insist that the Legion team with them to oust the invaders in order to make it clear that the Legion are not the aggressors.

A small group of the planet's' World Guard accompanies Nomad on the assault of the heavily fortified and armed enemy position. The World Guard distains the use of any weapons. This gets Grimrod’s ire up.

During the assault, the World Guard stays back behind the Legion, prompting more verbal abuse from Grimrod. When in sight of the enemy position, the World Guard charge the enemy with only a large tuning fork while Nomad gives cover fire.

Striking the enemy’s fortifications with the tuning fork, the World Guard all sing a powerful note that beaks the enemy’s fortifications apart. No need for weapons, as Grimrod points out, when every native on the planet is a sonic cannon.
